Acer Liquid Review
Here is our latest review on the Acer Liquid handset. Like all others we tested this phone for 3 days to get an honest opinion of the handset!
We give the Acer Liquid a Review Score of 93%.
We recommend the Acer Liquid handset for age 11+.
There are not that many Acer mobiles available for pay monthly contract today. The brand is one of the biggest names in the computer manufacturing industry but does it have what it takes to be part of the mobile phone game as well? We got our hands on the Acer Liquid handset in the hopes of answering that question.

This handset is made of plastic and has a design that is pretty much similar to the majority of touchscreen handsets we have today. Now there is nothing wrong with this standard design because that is obviously what works. The Acer Liquid handset gets great points from us because we found the slightly curved top and bottom beautiful. The colour is also something refreshing, with the white back part standing out.
13 Points Features –
Review Acer Liquid Features (Max 15 Points)
This touchscreen phone has a capacitive display, making the screen sensitive to however you want to navigate it. In terms of connectivity, it has GPRS, EDGE, 3G, and WiFi. It also comes with Bluetooth and a USB slot for connecting to a computer. It runs on Android and has a Snapdragon processor. It also has a 5MP camera with autofocus and geo-tagging. It also has social networking sites integration and GPS.
Of course, these are standard features that you will find in other high-end mobiles as well. Nothing really unique about these features. In fact, we were a bit disappointed that the camera has no flash. We also like playing videos using mobiles and we did not like that this handset does not have DivX or XviD support.
10 Points Ease of Use –
Review Acer Liquid Ease Of Use (Max 10 Points)
This is where the Acer Liquid handset redeems itself. If you are familiar with the Android OS, you will find navigating this mobile very easy. From the friendly interface that houses your widgets, shortcuts, and folders, to the Search area, you will find this handset easy to use.
5 Points Battery –
Review Acer Liquid Battery (Max 5 Points)
This handset has up to 400 hours on stand-by and 5 hours of talk time. This is pretty much standard and we were happy with its performance.
5 Points Applications
Review Acer Liquid Applications (Max 5 Points)
Since this is an Android handset, this comes with pre-installed Google apps. These are Google Talk, Google Maps, and a YouTube client. It also has nemoPlayer, Documents To Go, RoadSync Calendar, RoadSync Mail, Spinlets, and urFooz. You will need to download your own file browser but with the myriad of Android apps available for download that should not be a problem. With WiFi or 3G support, downloading apps was breezy.
4 Points Internet -
Review Acer Liquid Internet User Experience (Max 5 Points)
While writing this Acer Liquid review, we were excited to browse the Internet with it. Sadly, this handset does not come with Flash support. This is a big negative for us. However, we must state that the browser is fast and loads the pages rather quickly. If you can live without Flash support while browsing, you will not having any problem surfing the world wide web with the Acer Liquid handset.
3 Points Internt Speed –
Review Acer Liquid Internet Speed & Connection (Max 3 Points)
This handset has got HSDPA with speed of up to 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA with speed of up to 2.0 Mbps. In other words, browsing is pretty much decent. We also liked having WiFi onboard as we like having options when it comes to how we want to connect to the Internet. We are sure you feel the same.
4 Points Texting -
Review Acer Liquid Text Messaging Experience (Max 5 Points)
We are still one of those people who think that typing with a touchscreen can be just a tad frustrating. Of course, this is not the only issue we have with the messaging aspect of the Acer Liquid handset. Sure composing SMS and MMS were easy but we would have wanted a bigger space for the area where you can see your text.
10 Points Menu –
Review Acer Liquid Menu Usability / Controllability (Max 10 Points)
The homescreen of the Acer Liquid handset looks like that of a computer. We are not complaining, of course. That made our Acer Liquid review rather easy, actually. Usability and controllability were not big issues as you could actually organise whatever widget or folder you want to made easily available. As mentioned, you got shortcuts, folders, and widgets. This handset got high points for this area because the shortcuts that made using the mobile much smoother.
10 Points Features Usability –
Review Acer Liquid Main Feature Usability (Max 10 Points)
We also got no problems in this area as we were able to find everything and navigate the mobile just fine. The camera's interface was simple but it did its job. Using the GPS was easy, too. Browsing was fast, as we said. The media players were easy to use as well.
8 Points Enjoyment –
Reviewer's Enjoyment (Max 10 Points)
Although the camera as easy to use, we felt that more features could have been added. The camera features did not do the 5MP resolution justice. Also, a DivX or XviD support for videos could have come a long way. Despite these points, this is still a decent mobile to own on a contract.

We could have wanted an FM radio, Flash support, and other features available in other touchscreen smartphones.

Final Thoughts on the Acer Liquid
With contract deals kicking around with unlimited texts and 500MB internet Data from as low as £25 the HTC Desire Handset is a Bargain! Getting this handset means you must have internet on your contract term to enjoy its features to the max.
We must say that we admire Acer for trying harder in coming up with a touchscreen smartphone that many people will want to have for their pay monthly contract. We pat them on the back for the effort and for giving us features that are actually easy to use despite the fact that they could be better. However, this only means that future Acer mobiles will be better, right?
Also, paired with a great pay monthly plan, this handset is really fun to own. You can avail of pay monthly plans with this handset on T-Mobile. For a plan that costs only £30, you will enjoy 600 minutes, 500 texts, and unlimited mobile browsing. The latter is a great credit to have since this handset got fast 3G.
